Research shows that the time a couple need between having the fight and making up is inversely related to the strength of the relationship.

The Positive Affect

Ever noticed how some people act differently when they are around a certain person, and no I don't mean: smarter, ruder, meaner etc.. I mean how their set of values seem to change when in contact with that person.

Its like they get stronger, more moral, and focussed..

One might call it "a touch of an angel" others mights see it as plain ol' "hypocrisy".

Have you seen this around you? And do you think that some people have a positive affect on others, that having them around brings out that better person?

Do you blv that we can have such power over others, and if so.. Does that make us responsible of their wellbeing?

The looming recession

Incase you haven't heard (and who hasn't), the two topics everyone is talking about are the financial crisis and the US election.

Today (being stuck in the most boring lecture ever) I would like to sum up the economical situation as I understand it to be.. In words we can all get xD

USA:

Market inflation, high prices of oil, and pushing consumerism to its breaking point lead to alotta people getting bank loans ( to get stuff they can't really pay for) aka: empty loans. Banks then used those empty loans in the stock market.. Which -inevitably- lead to a stock market crash.. Banks closed down, people went out of business.. Major corporations suffered from the crunch (tried to accommodate by mergers.. Eg. General Motors).

With people not having enough money to go out and spend money.. Oil prices started to fall.. However, this can add more strain on the financial situation as lower demands worsen the economy.

The government stepped in with a bailout plan to pump money back into the economy. Weather or not banks will use this for more loans is questionable.

Global recession:

Since the states compose 21% of the world economy, their financial crash has affected a lot of countries. Stocks fell worldwide, prices soared, and economists predict the worst financial crisis in the last 80 years to be around the corner.

So there you have it! What has to be done and what the future holds is still not clear (what with the elections, financial plans, government involvements.. Etc). But whatever happens is going to affect all of us, oil rich countries included.

There's more to a hot cuppa cocoa than a flood of calories!

Research shows that just by holding a hot cup of hot chocolate u can get a warm flood of gushy emotions. Suggesting that physical and emotional warmth are connected.

Interesting, non?

Baisers voles!

As I mentioned earlier, my new found love of black-n-white movies is taking over. This started after "Casablanca" and now involves french classics; which have been a delight (fashion statements included).

This weekend I came across an interesting movie "stolen kisses", its part of a series of movies about a young man: antoine et his amour: christine.

At first, the movie struck me as bizarre, and sans a proper plot. But then I was told that Francios Tuffaut's movies have a profound meaning behind the story being told, which kinda made it more entertaining.

Now that I bored u with this intro, I want to share a part of the movie I found interesting..

In his movie, there was a guy who had it all, a great career, impeccable health, a gorgeous wife.. Wealth and everything that came with it. But he had one little problem that stopped him from being a happy person, so he went to a private investigator inorder to find happiness: " People don't seem to like me!" He said. " People who work for me argue with everything I say, my wife laughs with everyone except when I crack a joke, and people just hate me. I need you to find out why." When asked why he didn't take his problem to a therapist, he said he wanted a fast answer and couldt care about hours spent on a couch discussing possibilities. He wanted answers.

Which to me says: success is measured by relationships, not achievements.

What does this story tell you?

- to classics! xx

Serenity is:

Sitting outdoors and being able to actually breath in the fresh air.

Taking in a full moon.

Good company.

3ood playing in the background.

Icecream (in this case: boo'6a.. Heavenly delights!)

Knowing that the week is finally over, and long hours of sleep-sans-alarmclock await.

Letting everything and everyone just be.

Answer this:

"What do you do in your leisure time?"

When asked, I surprised myself by not really knowing what to say. At first I thought: shop! Then movies, eating out, working out.. But that bored me even as I heard myself say it! Cuz those don't really fall under leisure.. They are just daily activities..

So I ask you: what are your leisure activities?

Decisions Decisions

"I think somehow we learn who we really are and then live with that decision."

Eleanor Roosevelt

I think that who we are, our values, habits, and way of life are all a result of decisions we make.. We chose them..habitualise them, and they become us.

So becareful what you bring into your life, every decision, no matter how small.. Will reflect on who you are on the long run.

Just a thought.

Review du jour!

Givenchy's 360 degrees mascara wand hit stores in Dubai.. I have been waiting for it ever since the ads went out.. Tried it today..

Verdict:
Lengthening - perfect
Volumising - not at all
Fanning out - more than ever!

The idea behind the wand is that you get to each and every single lash, from root to tip..

So if you're looking for length, this is the way to go :)

- to fanned out curvy lashes! xx

On gym etiquette and similar situations..

I finally made it to the gym yesterday, and after having a small talk with my trainer (who was very very disappointed at my disappearance act), I got to the actual workout. Only then did I realise that I did not have my mp3 player on me. Oh-oh.

My gym protocol is as follows: get in there, pop in ur ear set, cardio, then a one-on-one with the trainer, stretch, hit the showers. Get out. The sooner, the better.

However, since I did not have my player on me, I was forced to look around.. There was always the overtly social lady, who felt its appropriate to discuss current events while huffing and puffing on the treadmill, the girls who confused the gym with the mall and would be all dolled up, makeup, hair, complimentary eye roll included. And then there comes a lady, every once in a while, who feels its her place to let u know that: the gym is a place for really fat people, and what are you doing here? *shoots an "are u one of em "anorexics" look in just for good meassure*.. Ugh! (Trust me peeps, I am nothing close to an anorexic! lol if only! :p)

And I usually avoid having to deal with this crowd by smiling at my tunes, and.. working out!

So yesterday, this got me thinking: gym etiquette.. Do's and Don'ts.. There should be a list somewhere!

- to healthy workouts! xx

Morphing into a Morning person.

Everyone who knows me knows how much I hate dragging myself out of bed, at days its solely the fact that my cuppa heaven awaits that gets me there. Ofcourse there's the dilemma that our working day starts so early that finding an operating caffeine dispenser can be a challenge.

The point is, in the last week or so, the only way for me to get by as a morning person was to hit the sack as early as possible (one day that meant 7 pm!) And to get up at the crack of dawn just so I have enough time to pass by my favourite (and only open) coffee shop du jour. And it is totally worth it.

I don't know how much longer I can hold up dinner/drinks with the girls but I kinda like my mellowed out pace of life: sleep/work/hubby/classes/bed and so on and so forth :p

Maybe I am a morning person at heart but never knew it xD
